Congrats to all who got one!
Condolences to those who didn't.
HOWEVER...
We are working on getting a second print done. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE this will happen. But we are trying based on the feedback after the drop. It will ultimately be up to DC to approve.
Our plan/hope is have this be the exact same cover, but say "second printing" on the back. It will not be a color cover, or foil, or anything substantially different. So no one will feel compelled to buy another version if they got one today. It will simply be a second print.
Further, we plan to price the second printing at $40. Half the original price of the first print. If you would like to cancel your first print order today, you can do that. (But again, keep in mind that the second print isn't a done deal yet.) I will also personally buy back any first print for $80 if people are able to get a less expensive second print later (in the same condition it was sent).
To answer some questions that have arisen about the drop today:
- There were no orders for multiples. We enforced a strict "one per" policy. Third Eye did detect some suspicious orders, and cancelled them.
- We sent out the link to the landing page last week, and have shared it on social media since. Everyone should have been ready with that.
- We did not share the direct link ahead of time to prevent any potential bot activity. So that no bots could be programmed with that link ahead of time. Some suggested that might have happened with the Absolute Catwoman drop. No one can say it happened this time.
- We did send out the direct link AFTER the drop went live...because that's when it became available. Third Eye didn't generate that link until 9AM PST, when the sale went live. I had to wait for that to happen to share the direct link in a newsletter. But this was redundant in the end, because everyone should have been on the landing page already.
- Yes, there have been copies already on eBay. These were from our
signing on 11/8 at Cape & Cowl Comics. We sold over 100 copies there. Otherwise, the other listings are from pre-sales, from sellers who presumably believed they would get their copies today. I do not know any of these sellers and have no association with them.
- Our exclusive variants are limited to 1000 because I believe this keeps them special and helps to maintain their original value in the long run. But I also acknowledge nothing is perfect, and it's impossible to make everyone happy.
If anyone objects to a second print, you are welcome to reply to this e-mail and let us know. Again, this is still in the planning/idea stage. We are commited to nothing yet. Your feedback will be an important determinant in what we ultimately decide to do here. If more people don't want a second print, than want one, we'll scrap this idea. Thanks!
